The right side states that the price is 5 cents. The majority of the page is in small-print text and is not legible. There are 4 portraits of men, one of the left, one in the middle, and two on the right in the same column.

New issues of The Guardian appeared every Saturday for 5 cents a copy; an annual subscription cost $1.50. The paper was eight pages long and reported local and national news for African American readers. The editorials on page four were generally incendiary, providing readers regular material for debate and discussion.
